Dr. Caroline Zeller
Our featured speaker for the evening, Dr. Caroline Zeller, will be presenting
"Odontogenic Infection Management for the General Dentist."
As a general dentist, you are often the first touch point for patients with odontogenic infections. It is our job to be able to determine the severity of infections, recognize when an infection is urgent, and know how and when to intervene appropriately.
Lecture topics include:
-determining the severity of an infection
-evaluating a host defense system
-how and when to refer
-performing an incision and drainage
-medical management
Speaker Biography: Dr. Caroline Zeller is a general dentist that provides oral surgery services for underserved populations. Following dental school at UMKC, Dr. Zeller completed an internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at OHSU. She currently splits her clinical time at Smilekeepers, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center, and a private practice in Tillamook, Oregon where she provides oral surgery services as a GP. Dr. Zeller is also an assistant professor at OHSU in the pre-doctoral oral surgery department and the General Practice Residency. This past year Dr. Zeller was awarded the prestigious ADA 10 under 10 award for her commitment to education, advocacy, and leadership in dentistry. Dr. Zeller serves as the Oregon Dental Association's ADA Delegate at Large, and will be completing her MPH in Health Policy and Management this year. In her free time Dr. Zeller enjoys cooking while camping, making music, and attempting to practice yoga without being disturbed by her 80 pound dog Franny Pants.
