The ADA News (3/27, Burger) reported the American Dental Association, American Medical Association, and other health care organizations said in a public statement March 27 that they “strongly” support emergency efforts at the federal level to significantly increase the production and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other critical medical equipment and supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. “We also support the availability of telehealth services during this time to use less PPE while preventing the spread of infection,” according to the statement, which the Joint Commission drafted.

The Hill (3/27, Sullivan) reported that the groups said health care workers need more PPE “immediately.”

Modern Healthcare (3/28, Castellucci, Subscription Publication) reported that shortages of PPE are adding to the anxiety and stress of many health care workers treating patients with coronavirus.
