What Is a Medical Ventilator & How Does It Work? | Sonas Home ...
The Hill (4/3, Johnson, Hellmann) reports that “New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) on Friday signed an executive order saying the state can take ventilators and personal protective equipment (PPE) from hospitals and medical institutions and redistribute the items to places that are in dire need.” Gov. Cuomo said, “We do not have enough ventilators. Period.” He added, “It’s not that we’re going to leave any health care facility without adequate equipment, but they don’t need excess equipment now.” The move comes as the state reported 562 additional deaths, “its biggest one-day increase in coronavirus deaths since the outbreak began.”

Fox News (4/3, Norman) reports that Gov. Cuomo will deploy “the National Guard to round up unused ventilators and personal protective equipment from across the state so they can be redistributed to hospitals on the front lines of the coronavirus outbreak.” According to the article, “Cuomo said facilities that have materials taken away will have the ventilators returned later – or be reimbursed so they can buy new equipment.”

The New York Times (4/3) reported on the news in its coronavirus live updates.
