The Washington Post (4/20, A1, Werner) reports that a “new small business rescue package” including about $370 billion in small business loans and grants, has hit a snag as “how to structure that money emerged as a final sticking point to the deal on Monday.” The Washington Post notes that Democrats and the Trump Administration remain at odds over “hospital spending and some elements of the small business program.” While the Post notes that an agreement late on Monday is “improbable,” it adds that “House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) inform[ed] House members late Sunday that they should expect to return to the Capitol on Wednesday to vote on the legislation.”

The ADA News (4/16, Garvin) previously reported that the ADA wrote to Congress April 10, saying additional funding is necessary “to stem the closing of dental practices as well as millions of other small businesses, which could result in massive job losses and bankruptcies” and said the Association “strongly supports” increasing funding for both the Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loans. The Organized Dentistry Coalition and state dental associations and societies sent an April 17 letter asking for more funding and flexibility for these programs.
