HHS Announces $25B Available In Relief Funds For Medicaid Providers

Advocacy Alert: Department of Health and Human Services continues ...
The Washington Post (6/12) in its “Health 202” column reported that many Medicaid providers and facilities are “now facing steep revenue losses” after suspending nonemergency procedures and services amid the coronavirus pandemic. While “the Department of Health and Human Services had $175 billion to distribute this past spring,” getting federal coronavirus relief funds to Medicaid providers proved difficult since “it’s normally states – not the federal government – who pay them.” The article said that “after heavy pressure from top lawmakers on Capitol Hill,” HHS “announced $25 billion is available specifically for providers with large shares of low-income patients,” and of that total $15 billion will go to dentists, physicians, and facilities that “treat low-income adults and children.”

The ADA News (6/10, Garvin) previously reported that HHS’ Provider Relief Fund Payment Portal is accepting applications.
