(7/7, Luhby) reported that federal data released Monday indicates the health care industry, including dental offices, “received the largest dollar amount of loans from the Paycheck Protection Program [PPP].” The article reported, “Businesses in the health care and social assistance field garnered a total of $67.4 billion in potentially forgivable loans, or nearly 13% of the total dollars distributed, according to the Treasury Department and the Small Business Administration.” While the health care industry has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic, CNN highlighted signs the dental industry is recovering. FierceHealthcare (7/8, Reed) reports that “hundreds of health systems, as well as medical groups, including family practices, outpatient surgery centers, specialty care groups and dental practices,” received “loans of at least $150,000 through the PPP, the records show.”
