A Message from Our President
Welcome CCDS members to our 2024-2025 year of meetings!!
This summer our executive committee has worked very hard to have a quality and educational docket of speakers. Our goal for the year is to have speakers who will educate clinicians with a tangible skill that they can implement in their practices and to provide lectures that are a necessary for licensure.
Please pay attention to the dates of the meetings. To accommodate scheduling at Royal Oaks and to improve meeting attendance, not all meeting will fall on the first Thursday of the month.
September 12th (Second Thursday) Dr. Garibov will be speaking on “Peri-implant Disease: Current Understanding and Management” with a CCDS business meeting to follow. Featured Sponsored- Straumann
October 2nd (First Wednesday) – Santiago Valdez RDH will be speaking about Health Equity in Dentistry. This course satisfies the new 2 hour every 4 years CE requirement for dentists and hygienists. It is one of the only 2 hour CE courses available on the subject. Most classes are 4 to 6 hours online. This meeting will be highly attended and will require an RSVP. The cost to non-members and hygienists is $100 which includes dinner. Please bring your hygienists and let your colleagues know as this is a REQUIRED CE COURSE FOR LICENSURE. Featured Sponsor – TDIC
November 7th (First Thursday) – Dr Isaac Tawil will be speaking on “Atraumatic extractions and Socket Preservation.” CCDS Business meeting to follow if needed. Featured Sponsor- Patterson Dental.
Our meetings this year will follow a very specific structure. We will begin promptly at 6:00 pm with dinner and a social time. Announcements will start at 6:15 pm so that the speaker can begin at 6:30 pm. We will enjoy our speaker until 8:20 pm when a 10 minute question and answer session will begin. The meeting will conclude at 8:30 pm, at which time a business meeting may be called. If you have business or announcements as a member, this will be your time to speak. All requests to speak must be made prior to the meeting to Dr Peter Lubisich, by email, phone, or in person. We will follow Robert’s Rules of Order and you will be allowed 3 minutes to speak on your topic.
Lastly, Dr. Dick Hanson has passed away at the age of 96. He was a life long student of dentistry and always sought the best for his patients. He was one of the dentists that worked hard to establish the dental hygiene program at Clark College where he taught for many years. After retiring at the age of 73, he worked on several cruises, as the ship’s dentist. He of course loved his Beavers and Oregon State University. A Celebration of Life will be held Aug 24 at 1 pm at Peace Lutheran Church in Vancouver.
