Greetings Clark County Dentists,
Spring is upon us as we welcome the sunshine and warmth back to our lives. We have had a good year of speakers and we will finish strong in April and May. Please note the next meeting is April 10, the second Thursday of April, sponsored by Kuraray.
Dr. Jihyon Kim, a 1999 graduate of the University of Washington School of Dentistry will be joining us. Her passion for concepts of occlusion and adhesive dentistry has led her to pursue advanced training through Dawson Academy, Spear Education, Kois Center, and the Alleman Biomimetic Mastership. Today, she practices clinical dentistry while teaching hands-on courses in adhesive dentistry. She has published multiple articles on direct composite dentistry and lectured extensively throughout the United States and Canada. Dr. Kim’s practice has an emphasis on esthetic smile rejuvenation via advanced adhesive and biomimetic dentistry. As Director of the Institute of Injection Overmolding in Seattle, Washington, Dr. Kim’s focus is on delivering an advanced, intuitive, and intimate hands-on learning experience to clinicians seeking excellence in restorative dentistry.
At this meeting, we will again be accepting nominations for the Secretary position and one delegate to the WSDA. Please contact clarkdentists@gmail.com if you are interested. We cannot have a dental society without our members stepping up into leadership. It is much less time intensive and daunting then you might imagine. The relationships you will develop running through the chairs of the dental society are truly one of the greatest joys of serving. Please step up to ensure our society continues to be strong in Clark County.
As previously mentioned, there are opportunities to help those in need here in Clark County through volunteering at the Battle Ground Health Care Clinic, the Free Clinic of SW Washington, the Clark College Hygiene program, and Cascadia Tech Assisting program. In December, I mentioned the opportunity to donate to the “Children’s Dental Health Day” Fund. This is the money used to pay for the treatment for kids found to have caries at the Children’s Dental Health Day on Feb 1, 2025.
The treatment done at Clark Hygiene is paid for by donations to the Children’s Dental Fund at Clark College. The current balance of the fund is approximately $1700, our goal was to get the balance up to $10,000 by February. It was depleted from its previous balance of $8000. The funds primarily pay for composite restorations. Any amount helps. Please send your check to:
