Forty years ago, only 7% of dental school graduates in the U.S. were women. In 2017, according to the ADA Health Policy Institute, that percentage was up to 49% and continues to grow today. As the industry shifts, numerous studies have shown a gender earnings gap in dentistry that cannot be explained by hours worked, specialty or other factors. Now, with COVID-19 affecting the industry, are female dentists experiencing the same impact as their male counterparts?
