Congratulations to the Winners of 2021 Scholarships to the Clark College Dental Hygiene Program.

The CCDS would like to congratulate the following individuals, who are Scholarship Award Winners:

Jeanette Anenko, Camas, WA:

Jeanette is a 20-year-old student aiming to become a dental hygienist. She went to school in Camas, started the running start program as a junior, and then attended Clark College full time, whilst also balancing working and volunteer work. She has worked as a server in a retirement home and as a lab assistant technician at college. Her volunteer work has included leading children's camps in Ukraine and Astoria, WA, feeding the homeless and visiting the sick and elderly. She is currently a student at the Clark College Dental Hygiene program and is looking forward to mastering all the techniques that make a dental hygienist - from adequately taking a medical history to properly screening for cancer, to scaling and returning tissue to optimal health. With these skills she hopes to change patient behavior to maximize their health, life well-being, and their pursuit of happiness. Furthermore, she desires to educate local citizens and if possible in the future, 3rd world nations on optimal hygiene and its systemic impact.

Alexis Dettling, Vancouver, WA:

Alexis is  a junior in the Clark College Dental Hygiene program. She grew up in Vancouver, Wa, and graduated in 2016 from Columbia River High School. She knew she wanted to pursue a career in dental hygiene after having the opportunity to shadow her own dental hygienist. She achieved her associate's degree with honors and played soccer at Whatcom Community College until moving back home to attend the dental hygiene program at Clark College. She has enjoyed growing up in the Vancouver area and is grateful to have the opportunity to give back to her community as a future dental hygienist. She is excited to be an advocate for oral health and create a positive dental experience for patients. 

Pamela Wirtanen, Battle Ground, WA:

Pamela Wirtanen is a 28 year old Student Dental Hygienist in the Clark College Dental Hygiene program who has lived in Battle Ground Washington all her life. She graduated from Battle Ground High School in 2011 and attended the running start program from 2010-2011 and then recently completed the rest of the prerequisites for the program at Clark College. Her first job was a dental receptionist in Vancouver WA ,and she will be going full circle back to dental once she graduates. She lives in Battle Ground with her husband, dog, cats, and chickens, and enjoys spending time outdoors when it's not raining. She's anxious to graduate and start serving her community as a promoter of oral health.
